Sok Dtad, horizontal elbow strike to ribs. Elbow strikes are the most feared strikes used in Muay Thai; no matter where the point of the elbow hits, it will cause great damage against the bones, skin or muscles of the opponent. Even the strongest fighter will fall if struck violently and swiftly with an elbow strike. In Kard Chiek fighting during clinches most fighters often make use of grabs, knee strikes and throws to subdue opponents, but only the most technical athletes are able to catch the split moment when the opponent is open to elbow strikes and exploit the situation. In case the elbow lands with power at the right time against ribs, solar plexus or sternum, it is almost sure the fight will be stopped and the victim of the hit will surrender.
